Symbolic Gesture

No one is worried about us doing anything anymore. We have been pussified to the point now where we think walking down the street screaming in a unified manner shows our disgust. Our leaders organize boycotts in order to make people come to the table. Everyone knows the only time they have to worry about us is when they commit a major wrong like Rodney King, otherwise the Blacks will sit there pissed off talking at the beauty salon or babershop. No one cares or even worries becuase they know you won’t do shit!

What used to be a problem for the country has now been solved by the intellectuals of our race. No more Riots like the 60’s because “YOU ARE DESTROYING YOUR OWN COMMUNITY” rings out from every pastor, so called leader, clinical psychologist, and intellectual. Now we hold town hall meetings, think tanks, community action groups, prayer vigils, sign petitions and car washes. What used to be about getting results has now shifted to haveing a seat at the table. Now we are just happy to have our voice heard.

The Shit is funny to me. People treat these events like they are making a difference. It’s like someone saying they attended Lil Waynes concert the way people say I was at the Boycott, the prayer vigil, or I helped to get a petition signed. How many petitions have you signed and actually something came out of it? If you challenge anyone on the ineffectiveness of this approach they say “We’ll at least I am doing something” like that is a good reason. They will come back with T-shirts that say “Jenna 6″ or some shit like that. I remember I was on the way to work and a older Black woman said why aren’t you wearing Black? I said what for and then I told her I didn’t get the memo through my Black phone! Are we so fucking stupid that we think wearing Black all across the country is somehow going to change things for those kids? If all the Black Bloggers wore orange on Tuesday would everyone say Uh-OH those Black Bloggers are up to something, dispatch the FBI!

Drugs must’ve really fucked us up! When did wearing a pink bow on your left index finger incite fear in anyone? When did you having a flag waving on your car show the world we were serious? When you participated in any of these farces did real change occur or did you just walk home feeling satisfied you did something? When they made the song “Self Destruction” did Black on Black violence stop! I know when they made “We’re all in the Samg Gang” it didn’t stop motherfuckers from trying to kill me. When they made “We Are the World” whatever that shit was supposed to solve did it get solved? I feel like I am watching the wizard of OZ and we are on the way to the Emerald City to stage a rally for the Wizard to get rid of the Witch and those fucking flying monkeys.

Solution: Be about results! It’s not about getting up and doing anything, it’s about getting up and doing something effective. God Damn we need to learn more about strategy and becoming efficient in our ways. We know in our hearts all the symbloic gestures won’t make a difference but we still get our 85% way of thinking assess up and march on city hall. We bring in Alicia Keyes to sing a Negro Spiritual and we make a afternoon out of it. All these Symbolic Gestures are Flag Waving, like we are at the Olympics Opening Ceremony; and we know it doesn’t accomplish shit!

Real Solution: All roads end with us taking care of ourselves. After Civil Rights comes Financial Independence. We need to stop trying to make someone do right by us because the shit is not going to happen. The simplist thing you can do is to teach your kids about making and saving money, running a business, owning all their property rights, and learning our history. All you have to do in this life for yourself is have some property to pass on to the next generation. Until we come up with a Black Blueprint that’s all we have to do to get on the road to actually having the power to make real change in our lives.

Casual Black Male?

Ladies I know when you go out with some men you don’t think they are dressed properly for the occasion. I know when women go out they have a dress or they have a outfit for the occasion. I know when the guy shows up with a polo shirt, dockers and some tennis shoes you just think “What the Hell” lets just go anyway. I for one will admit it that I see it myself and I just don’t know what happened. Where did we as Men drop the ball and put on our Casual Friday uniform.

I don’t know if it’s because all of a sudden nice clothes doubled in price, we don’t have any fathers around to teach us how to be presentable or our education level has dropped so significantly that we still dress like teenagers. Now don’t get me wrong going down the street to get some milk doesn’t count as a reason to dress up but how about every non errand related time. Somehow a good pair of shoes has become Nikes, a fresh white T has replaced a dress shirt, a subtle chain has become a medallion and somehow the right watch has become the bright watch.

I want to blame it on rap music just like everyone else but this must go a little deeper than that. I mean when NWA was rapping I still didn’t think going to the party looking like a gang banger was appropriate. When I was a kid there was definite line between a Man and a teenager. The clothes, hairstyle, walk and talk were all different from the way teenagers went about things. Now I swear to you I can’t tell the difference. I see Grown Ass Men still trying to dress like they are ballers. I hear Grown Ass Men at the barbershop talking about their new pair of tennis shoes. I see Grown Ass Men with 26 Inch rims on their cars still parking lot pimping.

I think we just decided to say fuck it with this dressing up stuff. I mean when I was a teenager we would laugh at the guy who got to dressed up. We used to call him Casanova or tell him he was doing 4 Much (2*2much)! Really we just didn’t have the clothes to compete against that cat that day so we just teased him. Nowadays people are just rolling out of bed and putting on colored underwear and thinking they are looking good. Tell me how a wife beater became a style, how did a wavecap make it out of your bedroom, how did the Jordans get off the playground, how did the chain get off of the rap video. Shit, why did the restaurants even let everyone in.

Solution: Hell if I know on this one. I only brought this up because I went out with a young lady the other night and she wasn’t dressed right for the occassion. It just made me think Women must be going through this shit everyday. I really don’t know how to correct this situation because how do we get the Casual Male to put a nice shirt over his Tshirt?

Money is the Answer!

I know I know you think money is the problem, but tell me how a lot of money couldn’t solve the majority of our problems. Give me one concrete example, not any spiritual BS, not another kumbaya moment, not a awakening of the our inner spirit BS. I always say the person who thinks money doesn’t solve all your problems must’ve grown up with it.

Now I am not talking some of that Rev. Al Sharpton empowerment shit, where we all say yes and AMEN but no one lays out a plan. I am talking DOPE money, not selling drugs; we need to have that mentality towards money. The way Dope Dealers run the streets is the same way we need to think about making money. You have to be wililng to die, do the time, and be hated and despised. This is the American Way! We need to be cut throat, I run the streets, no one makes a movie without the Jews in hollywood, why does the Korean own all the corner stores, how do they get their T-shirts so cheap, Universal owns all the record companies, dominate the industry way of thinking MONEY!

The great majority of our problems can be solved if we all had enough money. If we were rich we can get the drug addicts treatment, the schools would have better funding, men would have enough money to support their family, our children could be exposed to great opportunities, we would not rely on anyone else so we could do what we want, we could run our own communities because we can back our own political candidates. Look at all of our problems and tell me if they aren’t really the result of lack of resources and resources come from money.

I can hear it now from the pews “Freeman P - we need a spiritual awakening, we need to teach our kids self respect, why doesn’t the government stop drugs, the white people are holding me back, no one will give me a loan, blacks weren’t historically taught how to run a business.” All that is true but who gives a Fuck get out there and make some money. When are you going to get it through you thick ass head that no one cares about US! So we better get into the game and start making money. “But Freeman P - Won’t that make us just as bad as them, Don’t we have a higher calling, Why does the world have to be this way, We are citizens of the United States so it’s our right, I am a servant of God not of Man.” Again all that is true but who gives a Fuck get out there and make some money.

This country is not a Democracy, it’s a Capitalist Society. All this equality shit is lie to get you to share while everyone else takes and dominates. All the Slavery talk about what we didn’t know or somehow we are unable to learn is a damn CON to get your dumb ass to accept self imposed limitations. You have to donate money to your church as they say it’s because of operating expenses, but it only takes only so much to keep the lights on. How come your preacher is the richest guy you know in most poor communities? Companies donate money to your poor ass because it looks good to potential buyers when you see “NBA Cares” Companies are running to China to exploit the Chinese people as we speak. They build restaurants not to feed you but to take money from you. Everything you see in this country is done to make money WAKE UP!

Solution: Get in the damn game! I know you are scared to think that everyone around you is trying to make money off of you. I know you have been taught that money is evil and God doesn’t appreciate it. Our leaders blackmail car companies and say they are getting you jobs all for money. We have to cater our minds on Money, read books about money, try out businesses to make money, teach our kids to make money. Focus on making all of it not a piece of it ALL OF IT! Now you don’t have to be evil to make money but we have to be aggressive when we go after it.

Money will solve all of our problems and if it doesn’t then we’ll have problems rich people have and that’s way better than the SHIT we have now!

The Jews Do, We Don’t

The Jews killed Jesus! Now if that’s not enough to get everyone to hate you I don’t know what will. The Jews are in Israel and everyone points their guns at them and they have to be on constant alert. Mel Gibson said something about Jews when he was drunk and now he can’t find a damn acting job because everyone says he is Anti-Semitic. Obama went to Israel because he needs to have the Jews on his side to win the election. Everyone considers Farrakhan Anti-Semitic, Jesse Jackson said Jaimetown and now he is thought of as well. Steven Spielberg flew to a Black high school because the kids were laughing at Schindler’s list. The Movie Munich is a revenge story about how the Jews fought back against the people who killed their Olympians.

I can go on and on about the Jewish people but you already know most of this stuff. Somehow the Jewish people have been able to persevere, educate, and dominate. Let’s focus on how their story can help us.

Jewish Suffering is not like ours no matter how many scholars tell you it is. They left Germany we are still here, they have a homeland carved out by the powers that be and we don’t. They believe they have religious right to their land and we are just fucking religious. They are persecuted because of what they believe, we are persecuted by the way we happen to look. So don’t believe we are somehow joined at the hip because our suffering mimics theirs. We are like two different kids one got hit in the face with a switch and another got cracked by a whip, the only thing we have in common is the shit hurts.

The Jewish people are the masters of their own identity.

• They will not let anyone say even the word Jew without someone fearing of being called Anti-Semitic.
• They have their own churches that are not accepting of others unless you are willing to convert.
• They run their own schools and do not try to send their kids out into the public schools.
• They celebrate their own holidays and do not care to be part of the bigger society.
• They have their own awards that celebrate greatness.
• They make non Jews say great things about Jewish people for fear of alienation.
• They have the USA fighting to maintain their land because everyone feels they are somehow the chosen people.
• They teach their kids to be certain professions so they can dominate whether that be in movies, lawyers, or doctors.
• They do not try to get involved in politics.
• They do not try to takeover neighborhoods by opening businesses, they take over by buying the building.
• They send their kids back to their homeland so they can feel connected to the land.
• They have a rally cry of always being a victim from the Holocaust that mobilizes their people against a common enemy.

As Blacks we have so much to learn from the strategy the Jews employ to survive in this country. They play to win and everyone who doesn’t recognize it is a Anti-Semite. If we circled the wagons and came up with a National Black policy and executed it, our numbers would shock the world.

Solution: We have a blueprint for how to be successful in this country. The Jewish people face a lesser form of the hell we catch, but they adapted to it very well. The first thing they did was take control of their identity and defend it like you were attacking a old lady. We have to start here too, and fight for what we see ourselves and our race to be. The rest we can simply follow by going from bullet to bullet above.

The Dancing Negro

The Dancing Negroes won! Whenever you look back in recent Black history there was your mom and dad dancing like idiots in some tight fitting slacks. When you go back even further you see blacks drinking moonshine probably doing the electric slide. If you go back even further I am sure you will see slaves in the cotton fields dancing like they are in a public enemy video. Recently you saw SoulJa Boy having Grown Folk doing the Superman. So why are you shocked that the Dancing Negroes seem to determine who, what and where we are going as group today?

No matter how bad life gets for us all we got do is put on our dancing shoes. You lost your job, well it’s a party this Friday! Your car broke down, well you don’t need that there is a dance on the WestSide I’ll pick you up. You failed this semester of college well hey there is a end of the year party being thrown by the Alphas! Your husband left you girl you need to get out and dance!

The Dancing Negroes won and they are dominating our life. They are setting the agenda and they are slowly making us look like a minstrel show. The Dancing Negro never danced because they were having a good day. It was never out of a promotion, passing a test, opening up a business, no nothing like that. The Dancing Negro celebrates that their life is SHIT but today for this short period of time lets act like it doesn’t matter. Let’s get drunk, get a dress you can’t afford, buy some Ace of Spade, put on your White Linen, and let’s party like tomorrow is not coming.

Whenever you confront the Dancing Negro they don’t want to solve any problems, they just want to medicate them. Let’s smoke some weed, let’s have some drinks, lets pop some pills, have you tried ecstasy or why you blowing my high man! They have become so ingrained in our culture you are thought of as square if you actually think seriously about any situation. If you don’t go out at night and front like you’re a millionaire or be carefree you must have some kind of issue in your life. If you want to do more than just get by in this life the Dancing Negro will offer you a drink and say you think too much.

They are kicking our ass. This is why nothing ever seems to get done, because we can’t get the Dancing Negro to stop partying. The Dancing Negro said fuck it to changing things a long time ago!

Solution: There is nothing wrong with Dancing. It’s just the mentality behind the dancing is a celebration of poverty. We are celebrating a release from oppression instead of getting up and doing something about it. We have let the weed smoking, pill popping, over drinking, nightclub hopping, STD carrying, Big Rim fronting, NEGROES win! It’s our fault and we have to change it one BLACK WOMAN & MAN at a time.

Cain & Abel

Cain and Abel were the first and second sons of Adam and Eve^, born after the Fall of Man Their story is told in Genesis 4:1-16, the Qur’an at 5:26-32, and Moses 5:16-41. In all versions, Cain, a farmer^, commits the first murder by killing his brother Abel, a shepherd after God rejects Cain’s sacrifice but accepts Abel’s.

That story over and over is how I feel about how we seem to treat each other. For some reason we can’t let each other shine without someone coming against them. I see it with our political groups jockeying for the “So called” leadership of the black community attacking each other. I see it when a well off Brother is called a Sell Out! I see it when we can’t settle our conflicts without violence. I see it when someone talks about people they never even met and don’t even know. I read Blogs with Gossip about stars like their business is really your business.

Jealousy is so overpowering in our community that I’ve learned to just defer to others for the sake of not getting shot. Every time someone rises up and starts talking and really feeling him or herself there is always someone who feels its their duty to put them in their place. This feeling of subtle jealousy and those who support it are one of many reasons we haven’t been able to put things back together. People love to throw rocks and then hide their hands.

Somehow we have to realize that it will take all of us to better the situation. It will take the sell out, the Preacher, the Nationalist, the Nation of Islam, the Christians, the Hustler, the Athlete, the Rapper, and your Mama to let each other come up with a solution. It will take all of us letting all of our talents express themselves so that others may follow the ones they closely identify with.

Solution: Make a vow to yourself that you will hold your tongue when talking about people you don’t know. Hold your comment about casting dispersion on anyone or anything you don’t have first hand knowledge. Control you wanting to be noticed and heard when it does nothing more than show your ass and confuse the masses by not showing solidarity. We don’t have to agree on a whole bunch of things but we don’t have to tear each other down either. Let’s investigate before we hate!

When I was a kid my mother told me not to speak publicly about any Black Person. She told me even if I am on camera I should say I will have to talk to him directly as to what that Black Person meant. I think we need to do exactly this so it puts a united front on our problems and moves us forward.

The Human Race

Whenever there is a problem between races whether it be religion, dating, schooling, war and even the price of car insurance someone usually blurts out we are all part of the Human Race. I guess for that one second we are supposed to drop everything and say OH he’s a man just like me. Lets forget about all the inequities, let’s forget about the blatant lack of resources, let’s forget about your claims and let’s all join hands like that old Coke Commercial and sing Negro Spirituals. Because after all we are all one Race the Human Race… (SHIT!)

The Real Human Race on this earth is for the domination of resources by one group and thus the subjugation of others. You just don’t realize it because you are subjected to it right now. You have no real say on how anything will happen in the world right now. I know you think your vote counts but if you examine the Electoral College you would find that it doesn’t. You think you can control the price of oil, electricity, food, water, and housing by just complaining to your elected official or staging a rally or maybe a candlelight vigil so the news will tape it.

Whether you like it or not this is a competitive sport you happen to be born in, it is every race for themselves! What do you think the Space Race was about so they can have bragging rights? Why do you think they run to claim the land in the North and South poles, so they can save the polar bears? Why do you think they made up Chavez being a terrorist in Venezuela, because he plotted with Saddam Hussein? Why are we at war in the middle east, because we want to bring Democracy to the Iraqi people? What do you think slavery was about, them delivering us to a better life? Everything was done over some valuable resource whether it be land, oil, natural gas, land on the moon, human labor or even whats under the water. All of your common wars were over some kind of land grab and in turn a grab for control over resources. Now I know they marketed it to you as some humanitarian effort but c’mon I know you can see past that.

So how does this effect Black Folk here in the USA? It effects us because we are not in the race at all. We are stuck fighting the battle for recognition instead of the battle for position. We have tournaments wasting our life playing a fucking video game instead of focusing our mind on how we are going to carve out a piece of this earth for ourselves. We spend most of our time fighting over the right to be part of the dominant party instead of having something of our own. We donate our talents and our lives to reinforce and aid another people’s position in this world and all we get out of it is another day alive.

Solution: Think a little bit bigger picture than just what you see. Think about what you can take on and control for yourself. At one time J. Paul Getty was so big he owned all the oil in the USA, Getty family is still one of the richest families in the world you still see Getty Oil at gas stations today. Microsoft pretty much dominates the computer industry for software and Bill Gates is one of the richest people in the world. This is because they dominate some essential resource.

We have to figure out how to get to the top of the food chain if we are to survive!

Let them tell us who to Follow

Now that Obama has gotten this far I guess he’s your new Black Leader. I guess he replaced Jesse or Al because it was time for a change. It’s a new generation and Obama is not part of the Civil Rights movement so he represents a generation change. We were on that road for a long time so it’s time to switch tracks and embrace the new vision of this new guy that “SOMEONE ELSE NOMINATED.”

Who in the hell nominates these guys to be the official spokesperson for all of us? I don’t hate Obama as a man but I am not one of his followers. I have never followed Messy Jesse about anything from his trips to Israel, to boycotting Toyota or Nissan for jobs. I never followed Al Sharpton and the penitentiary perm as he stood on a ladder in the movie Malcolm X, nor do I feel enlightened when he talks on TV.

So how do they get there and why do they stick? Jews pick Jewish leaders, Cubans pick Cuban leaders, Native Americans choose their own Indian Chiefs but the white news media picks leaders of America’s Black communities. Yeah Fox, NBC, ABC, CBS, and BET (they are white owned too) decide who our leaders should be. All of a sudden the same Black Woman or Man is all over the place talking to everyone and they nominate her the foremost authority on Black people.

If Rodney King gets beat up let’s ask Jesse, eventhough he doesn’t know shit about what goes on here in LA. If we can’t find anybody let’s ask the son of Jesse, Martin, Mfume and give them the heir to the throne like they did something besides be the physical manifestation of their father’s sperm. Lets ask Maya Angelou because she is a poet, let’s ask the guy from Real World now becuase he is a community leader, let’s ask Whoopi Goldberg (A Comedian) because she’s the only one we feel comfortable with. Hey lets ask Lil Wayne because he sold 1.5 million records so he has the voice of the young people.

I know you feel uncomfortable with Farrakhan, he doesn’t like them; (you can’t say it out loud that you like him) but he pulled off the Million Man March. Jesse, Al, and all the king horses and all the kings men couldn’t pull that off. Obama can’t either, if he called one it would look like Woodstock! Farrakhan is the last one we have that is truly a leader that we nominated. He is not trying to be a national leader of all people like Jesse, or Obama. He is not trying to meddle in the affairs of other countries like he is some diplomat of the United States. He is not backing away from what HE thinks is the reason for our situation. He hasn’t compromised and gotten Toyota to hire more Blacks. He is not trying to negotiate a way to send more money to your local school to help. He is not running for office so he can fight from the inside. All his money comes from Black people, no chevron sponsorship, no Coca Cola festival, just regular old black folk giving their money.

It’s important you recognize the difference of who is really for you and who they feel comfortable with. Your local community activist is probably more of leader than Jesse and Al and Obama because they are not trying to make sure they can get money for their effort. I know you are going to say Al, Jesse, and Obama do a lot for Black people, but ask yourself can they say what they want to say. Is all their money going to dry up tomorrow if they really go at the establishment? Will the rest of the black community still support him if he starts making the massses uncomfortable? So how can he really be for us 100% when everything he does is decided by how the other side will react and feel? How can any person claim to lead us and stand up for us if their money depends on the masses supporting him? Yes, I am talking about your NAACP, your Urban Leagues, your Preachers, your Politicians, activists, educators, and businesspersons

Solution: We have to stop picking the compromise. We have to decide who we want to follow and not give a damn about other people feeling uncomfortable with it. This is our family,our race and our problems and they are not welcome to decide for us as they are not part of our family. We have to reject or at least clarify that who the “So Called” speak for is their select group. The Messiah or Imam-Mahdi for our race is not coming so stop nominating one guy so they can kill him when he gets to the top! The way out of this problem will be through a meeting of all of our independent leaders focusing on a common goal.

Say Something Damn It!

Over the past 20 years we have watched what Crack has done to all of us. The streets were already unstable from unemployment, gangs, and robbery. Now we have the sons and daughters of Crack on our street. We have people scared to go outside at night for fear of being mugged or killed. We have our kids with ADD or ADHD taking Ritalin at school to make them zombies. We have women struggling to survive who can’t keep watch on their kids. We have awful parents in the community who don’t give a shit about their own. We have bad schools where the teachers don’t care about the kids.

I’m not saying go and vote, or sit on your school board, or run for office, open a place for them after school, because I know you won’t do that anyway. I’m talking about the simple opening of your mouth telling these kids that something is wrong. You see them with their pants down tell them to pull them up. You hear them cursing in front of a woman you tell them that’s not proper. You see them failing in school, you tell them they won’t make any money if they keep it up. You see a young girl acting unladylike school her ass.

SHAME - is the consciousness or awareness of dishonor, disgrace, or condemnation

The only thing we have to counteract all of this is SHAME. If shame is applied consistently it will work and curb some of the problems we face with this generation of kids. When I was growing up I might have done something wrong but I didn’t want it to make my mother and my family look bad. (Now I grew up in Compton so this isn’t the Village Clinton is talking about. ) At every turn no matter where I went was someone telling me I was doing wrong. During the Riots I was going to go up there and see the looting and a older Black woman made us all go home instead. (We were all 16 years old at the time!)

I know you are scared of these kids on the street. You are saying they won’t listen anyway. Well you are wrong if enough people Say Something Damn It, then it will stay in their heads. Anything applied consistently over a long period of time will work, that’s the way God made the world! Shame is powerful when your whole neighborhood is telling you that you are doing wrong. All kids want to be seen in the best of lights and young men even more because they want to respected.

I humbly offer SHAME to those who believe they can do nothing about it. It’s probably the least we can do but collectively it will yield big results.

Still First(s) Still?

I know when the Williams sister won Wimbledon you cried, when Tiger beat them in Augusta you cried, when Barack won the Democratic nomination you cried, when we do anything for the first time you cried. How many more firsts do we have to accumulate when you will stop crying and get mad at the situation for what it is. I stopped feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment a long time ago, now I just feel anger and know this is some bullshit.

Every year it seems we have another Black first! The first Black to run Citibank, the first Black to own multiple Wendy’s, the first Black Billionaire, the first Black to get shot in the Civil War and the first Black to sing the National Anthem! Are you shitting me that after 400 odd years we are still having firsts. The whole celebration of this type of Bullshit reinforces your inferiority complex.

As long as we somehow celebrate the day the powers that be allow us to smile in the sunshine, recognize us at the Grammys, recognize us at the Oscars. give us a chance to hold the flag, be the first to lead in prayer or the first to integrate Microsoft we will always be inferior. All this shit should point out to you that there are real forces trying to keep you back. Real Men with Real Power are somehow making you think if you break the glass ceiling we should be thankful because the Master has allowed us in. One of us has finally proven that we are worthy of the Masters trust and recognition.

Does any other race have firsts in their History that they celebrate as much as we do? Do they have the first Jewish person to be a fighter pilot on a wall? Do they have the first Pakistani to sell Ford Trucks as part of their History? Do they have the first Nigerian to row on the Harvard row team award? If any of these things exist well they are just as fucked up as we are. We have not gotten over the idea in our head that their opinion doesn’t count for shit when it comes to who we are. The times of working twice as hard to get the same thing is over. That was a losing fucking way of going about it in the beginning and we need to put that whole idealogy to bed.

Solution: Stop celebrating Shit we are supposed to do anyway, it’s not a celebration when someone gets through. We have to get it together folk and have our own feelings of self worth, build our own shit to run, and celebrate ourselves.
